Configuring spots and acts
Understanding spots
Spots are the individual performance slots in your show. Each spot represents one performer's time on stage and includes details like role, length, fee, and call time.
Spot categories
Confirmed uses three main categories:
Host: MCs and show hosts who introduce acts and manage the show flow
Acts: Performers, comedians, or entertainers
Production: Technical crew, sound engineers, or other production roles

Configuring spot details
Role and length
Role: Choose Host, Act, or Production
Spot length: Performance duration in minutes (e.g., 10, 12, 18, 20)
You can also add custom role names like "Opener," "Second," "Middle," "Closer," or "Headliner" to help communicate preferences to acts.
Fee
Set the payment amount for the spot (e.g., $10, $15, $25). This amount appears in offers sent to performers.
Call time
Call time tells performers when to arrive. You have two options:
Before Show: Arrive X minutes before the show starts (e.g., "30 minutes before show")
Best for hosts or acts who need setup time
Before Spot: Arrive X minutes before their performance (e.g., "15 minutes before spot")
Best for headliners or acts performing later in the show
Set call times conservatively. For example, if you want acts 15 minutes before their spot, set "20 minutes" to build in buffer time.
Editing spots
Edit a single spot
Navigate to the show's Spots tab
Click on the spot you want to edit
Update any field: role, length, fee, call time
Save changes
Bulk edit multiple spots
In the Spots tab, select multiple spots using checkboxes
Click Edit X spots
Make changes to roles, fees, or call times
All selected spots update simultaneously
Bulk editing is perfect when you need to adjust fees across many spots or change call times for an entire show.
Deleting spots
To remove a spot from a show:
Navigate to the show's Spots tab
Click the ellipsis menu (⋯) next to the spot
Select Delete spot
Confirm deletion
Only delete unfilled spots. If a performer is already booked, cancel their booking first or communicate with them before removing the spot.
Filling spots with performers
Once your spots are configured, you can fill them with acts. There are several methods:
Drag and drop from survey responses
In the Spots tab, look for Available Acts in the sidebar
This shows performers who responded to your availability survey
Drag a performer's name onto a spot
The spot status changes to "Planning"
Search for known performers
In the Spots tab, click on an empty spot
Use the search field to find a performer from your contacts
Select the performer to assign them
Learn more about filling spots when you know the performer.
From survey responses
When reviewing survey responses, you can fill spots directly:
Navigate to Surveys > Responses
Select a performer's response
Click Fill spot or similar option
Choose which show and spot to assign them to
Learn more about using availability surveys.
Spot statuses
Spots move through several statuses as you book performers:
Empty: No performer assigned
Planning: Performer assigned internally, but not yet offered
Offered: Offer sent to performer via email or link
Confirmed: Performer accepted the offer
Rejected: Performer declined the offer
Vacated: Performer cancelled after confirming
You can change statuses manually or send offers to move spots from Planning to Offered. Learn more about extending offers to acts.
Assigning fixed acts across multiple shows
If you have a regular host or recurring performer:
Select all shows where they'll perform (use filters or select all)
Navigate to Spots for the bulk selection
Assign the performer to the same spot type (e.g., Host) across all shows
This fills those spots simultaneously
Learn more in the batch editing guide.
Custom spot roles
Beyond the standard Host/Act/Production categories, you can add descriptive role names:
Opener: First act after the host
Second: Second performer
Middle: Mid-show acts
Closer: Final performer before the headliner
Headliner: Featured final act
These role names help communicate running order and expectations to performers.
Custom role names are for organization and communication. The underlying category (Host/Act/Production) determines how the spot appears in reports and filters.
Time between acts
When configuring shows, set the buffer time between performances:
In show settings, find Time between acts
Set the duration (e.g., 3 minutes)
This affects the overall show timeline
Call times and schedules adjust automatically based on this buffer
A typical 90-minute show with 3 minutes between 8 acts gives you about 66 minutes of performance time (90 - 24 minutes of transitions).
